So many trips..

On Friday last week, we went on project maths trip to Rathbeggan Lakes. It was absolutely freezing, I've never been so cold in my life! We finished all the tasks then we headed to blancherstown and we got mc donalds, it was worth standing out in the cold for.

On Wednesday, we went to sell holly for the ispcc. Also another freezing day, Molly and I..(shoutout to molly mooney:)) ) headed to the spar in merrion square. We sold a good few but then we went to get hot chocolate as our hands had gone numb with the cold. When we came back a homeless person kicked us out of our spot as it was her spot for begging.. As we were heading to the bus, all of ty joined in on the water charges protest, we did a great job shouting "go away we won't pay"  We got off at 1.20 which was greattt

On Thursday, we headed to Puncherstown for a a road safety talk. The talk was quite long but we got loads of free stuff which is always good. We also met Andrew Morley who plays Spencer in Home and Away, he was really nice and took pictures with everyone. After the talk we went to subway for lunch. It was a good day

Fashion Show

This week we had the fashion show. Although I wasn't modelling or anything, I had our mini company "i.protect" had a stand where we could sell. Over the last couple of weeks all mini companies have been very stressed in order to be ready for the fashion show.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, We set up our "i.protect" stand. We had a good few sales which we were delighted with! On Wednesday, I got to watch a bit of the show, I was so surprised as all the models looked amazing and so professional. All the dancers and singers did a great job too. The fashion show was a great success.

Meeting Tommy Bowe!

On Tuesday we went to Carton house for an art exhibition. The exhibition was called "Vanishing Art". However once we arrived at carton, we realised that the irish rugby team where there. We made it our mission to find at least one person from the team.

First we saw Simon zebo walk to his car and get in, he smiled and waved at us but none of us knew if it was definitely him. Megan looked him up on her phone and we soon realised it was him. We were gutted we didn't get a picture.

Next we saw them all training in the gym, Paul O' Connell waved at me btw:)) They were all training hard but we all crowded around the gym taking pictures. We stayed there for a while but soon realised they weren't coming out anytime soon

We walked around to the front of Carton and saw a green jersey walk out. We sprinted through fields, lost our shoes and were covered in mud but we were not missing taking a picture. When we finally got there we were all panting from the running but we realised it was Tommy Bowe! He was so nice and took loads of pictures and gave autographs.

It was a really good trip and we were delighted we got to meet the team! Yes I know I look awful in this picture, but tommy bowe is in it??

Walk in my shoes

Today, the 10th of October is national mental health day awareness. My school is taking part in walk in my shoes day to help spread awareness. We have to wear are own pair of shoes and bring in two euro to help support St. Patrick's University hospital. Adam Clayton from U2 wrote a letter to our school asking us to take part. The aim of the "Walk in my shoes" campaign is to get rid of the stigma attached to mental health. Suicide is the second most common cause of death in teenagers and one in six people will experience a mental health difficulty at some point. So it's really important that we help raise awareness for this cause!

Fun Walk

On Thursday this week we had the annual fun walk. TY's colour was yellow. My class Belle decided to dress our tutor Mr Lawlor as Belle as she's dressed in yellow and after are class name. We practised our dance any time we could and we decided on four songs for our dance too

On the day we headed down to the tennis courts and saw all the other years preform. Everyone had put in a lot of effort and they all looked really good. We preformed our dance pretty well but unfortunately class Aurora won..

We then went on the walk and as we were TY's, some of us had to stand at the junctions while others were in front of the walk. It was a really good day!

My digital footprint

As part of our blogger challenge for September, we had to watch a video all about your digital dossier or digital footprint. Your digital dossier is basically how your whole life is documented online. The video showed how as even as a baby, you are already on the digital world. Using sites like facebook, gmail even using a credit card contributes to your digital footprint. Uploading photos to social medias are all stored online on your digital dossier.

Before watching this video, I had no idea about how your digital footprint worked, but I was amazed to see how it started when I was a baby!

The websites which are part of my digital footprint are:
Facebook: where I upload photos, my interests and my profile
Twitter: where I post my thoughts
Instagram: where I upload photos of me and my friends
Snapchat: where I send pictures to my friends and have conversations.
Google: where I search things and send emails on gmail
Youtube: where I watch videos on things I like

As I grow older, my digital footprint will get bigger and bigger. It's amazing to think that we all have so much of our lives posted all over the internet!

First week of Work experience

This week was my first week of work experience. On Wednesday, I was so nervous as I made my way to the primary school which was my first placement. I got there early so I had time to meet the principal and she gave me a tour of the school. Soon after all the other teachers started to arrive. I was mainly going to be working in the special needs unit so as soon as the teacher called Anna arrived, she showed me the classroom were I would be working and explained everything I would be doing. As soon as the students came, I was very busy helping them with their work, playing games and doing jigsaws with them and singing songs with them.

Everyone was really nice to me and made me feel welcome there, There was also two other TY work experience girls there, who were both really nice too. I am looking forward to what the next week of work experience brings.

Carlingford

This week TY's went to Carlingford adventure center in Louth. On Monday I had to wake up at six o clock because the bus left at seven. I was so excited, my bag was packed. I over packed as usual, my bag was 90% food though. At seven we left esso and it was a two hour bus journey, we were all so tired but so excited for the next two days!

When we arrived, we got our rooms and unpacked and then we had to go straight to canoeing. My partner for the canoeing was Anna Gallagher, it was so much fun. I let Anna do most of the work, I was a great partner...We played loads of games on the beach and then we had to canoe back to he adventure center. In the afternoon, we headed off to Laser tag. We got dressed up in camouflage clothes and got huge guns. There was a fifteen minute hike up to the forest where it all took place which killed me! I loved the laser tag, we played loads of games such as capture the flag. It was very close but my team lost. Still It was definitely my favourite activity. We were exhausted from the first day but after dinner we headed off for a night walk which involved going to the forest in the dark, being blindfolded but putting your hands on the person in front of you to guide you. It was so weird being blindfolded and relying on someone else but it was so much fun. By the time we got back I was starving so we started to dig in to all the food we brought, we basically bought the whole of Tesco. I was so exhausted from the first day I couldn't keep my eyes open past one o clock in the morning.

On the second day, we headed off to Canadian canoeing which was twelve people in a boat. We sailed off to the trampoline in the water and had great fun jumping in and out of the water. We then paddled off to the beach where we were brought to the fountain of youth, which would apparently give you and extra day in your life if you stood under it. The fountain was freezing cold! I had never been so cold in my whole life! In the afternoon, we headed to the challenge courses which was team building exercises which were good fun, My favourite instructors in Carlingford were definitely Teddy and Keith.
At 5 o clock, we got all packed up and headed for Celbridge. We were all exhausted but it was the best two days ever!

Results!

We're into the second week of TY so far its been so good! This week was very nerve wracking for everyone as on Wednesday we got our Junior cert results. We did the exam in june so I couldn't even remember the tests. I was so nervous on Wednesday but at 12pm when we got our results I was so happy! I couldn't wait for the night ahead. I went to the Wrights Venue in Swords with my friends. We had an amazing night! It was definitely the best way to celebrate our results.

I'm still exhausted from results night but I can't wait for Monday as we're all off to Carlingford.

First TY week

It's been my first week in TY. Over the week we have got up to lots of things. We got our timetables and all our teachers. Some of the teachers I've never had before, its been a great week though. We have already got three projects so far! We were all put in new classes this year. My class is called Belle. All the people in my class have been so nice.

On Wednesday, we had three workshops; Positive parties, first aid and etiquette. In the morning we had positive parties which was learning about techniques to keep positive, while having basically a "party". The speaker has sweets on all the desks and hula necklaces on the chairs. She also had balloons and music. It was really good fun!

The second activity was first aid. We learned how to wrap bandages, tie slings, perform cpr and what to do in a situation when you find a person is unconscious. It was very interesting and It is very useful to know what to do in these situations. Garry the instructor was great.

In the afternoon, we did our final workshop; etiquette. This was my favourite out of them all, I really enjoyed it! We had to walk the red carpet in our heels, learning how to walk properly in them. We also learnt about body image and we were shown a video made by dove on body image. It was really interesting. Finally we learned about nail and hand care. We applied some hand scrubs and hand creams and they smelt soo good!

Overall I had a great first week in TY and I can't wait for results night next week and Carlingford trip in two weeks time!
