My digital footprint

As part of our blogger challenge for September, we had to watch a video all about your digital dossier or digital footprint. Your digital dossier is basically how your whole life is documented online. The video showed how as even as a baby, you are already on the digital world. Using sites like facebook, gmail even using a credit card contributes to your digital footprint. Uploading photos to social medias are all stored online on your digital dossier.

Before watching this video, I had no idea about how your digital footprint worked, but I was amazed to see how it started when I was a baby!

The websites which are part of my digital footprint are:
Facebook: where I upload photos, my interests and my profile
Twitter: where I post my thoughts
Instagram: where I upload photos of me and my friends
Snapchat: where I send pictures to my friends and have conversations.
Google: where I search things and send emails on gmail
Youtube: where I watch videos on things I like

As I grow older, my digital footprint will get bigger and bigger. It's amazing to think that we all have so much of our lives posted all over the internet!

First week of Work experience

This week was my first week of work experience. On Wednesday, I was so nervous as I made my way to the primary school which was my first placement. I got there early so I had time to meet the principal and she gave me a tour of the school. Soon after all the other teachers started to arrive. I was mainly going to be working in the special needs unit so as soon as the teacher called Anna arrived, she showed me the classroom were I would be working and explained everything I would be doing. As soon as the students came, I was very busy helping them with their work, playing games and doing jigsaws with them and singing songs with them.

Everyone was really nice to me and made me feel welcome there, There was also two other TY work experience girls there, who were both really nice too. I am looking forward to what the next week of work experience brings.

Carlingford

This week TY's went to Carlingford adventure center in Louth. On Monday I had to wake up at six o clock because the bus left at seven. I was so excited, my bag was packed. I over packed as usual, my bag was 90% food though. At seven we left esso and it was a two hour bus journey, we were all so tired but so excited for the next two days!

When we arrived, we got our rooms and unpacked and then we had to go straight to canoeing. My partner for the canoeing was Anna Gallagher, it was so much fun. I let Anna do most of the work, I was a great partner...We played loads of games on the beach and then we had to canoe back to he adventure center. In the afternoon, we headed off to Laser tag. We got dressed up in camouflage clothes and got huge guns. There was a fifteen minute hike up to the forest where it all took place which killed me! I loved the laser tag, we played loads of games such as capture the flag. It was very close but my team lost. Still It was definitely my favourite activity. We were exhausted from the first day but after dinner we headed off for a night walk which involved going to the forest in the dark, being blindfolded but putting your hands on the person in front of you to guide you. It was so weird being blindfolded and relying on someone else but it was so much fun. By the time we got back I was starving so we started to dig in to all the food we brought, we basically bought the whole of Tesco. I was so exhausted from the first day I couldn't keep my eyes open past one o clock in the morning.

On the second day, we headed off to Canadian canoeing which was twelve people in a boat. We sailed off to the trampoline in the water and had great fun jumping in and out of the water. We then paddled off to the beach where we were brought to the fountain of youth, which would apparently give you and extra day in your life if you stood under it. The fountain was freezing cold! I had never been so cold in my whole life! In the afternoon, we headed to the challenge courses which was team building exercises which were good fun, My favourite instructors in Carlingford were definitely Teddy and Keith.
At 5 o clock, we got all packed up and headed for Celbridge. We were all exhausted but it was the best two days ever!

Results!

We're into the second week of TY so far its been so good! This week was very nerve wracking for everyone as on Wednesday we got our Junior cert results. We did the exam in june so I couldn't even remember the tests. I was so nervous on Wednesday but at 12pm when we got our results I was so happy! I couldn't wait for the night ahead. I went to the Wrights Venue in Swords with my friends. We had an amazing night! It was definitely the best way to celebrate our results.

I'm still exhausted from results night but I can't wait for Monday as we're all off to Carlingford.

First TY week

It's been my first week in TY. Over the week we have got up to lots of things. We got our timetables and all our teachers. Some of the teachers I've never had before, its been a great week though. We have already got three projects so far! We were all put in new classes this year. My class is called Belle. All the people in my class have been so nice.

On Wednesday, we had three workshops; Positive parties, first aid and etiquette. In the morning we had positive parties which was learning about techniques to keep positive, while having basically a "party". The speaker has sweets on all the desks and hula necklaces on the chairs. She also had balloons and music. It was really good fun!

The second activity was first aid. We learned how to wrap bandages, tie slings, perform cpr and what to do in a situation when you find a person is unconscious. It was very interesting and It is very useful to know what to do in these situations. Garry the instructor was great.

In the afternoon, we did our final workshop; etiquette. This was my favourite out of them all, I really enjoyed it! We had to walk the red carpet in our heels, learning how to walk properly in them. We also learnt about body image and we were shown a video made by dove on body image. It was really interesting. Finally we learned about nail and hand care. We applied some hand scrubs and hand creams and they smelt soo good!

Overall I had a great first week in TY and I can't wait for results night next week and Carlingford trip in two weeks time!
